Fantastic Creature of the Day: Horsecock

Horsecock

…And quite a large one.

Hoping your coming year is just as fantastic!

This is its own genre now?

Teen Paranormal Romance

I haven’t been to a bookstore recently (because in me they tend to bring out all seven deadly sins), so I wonder what else I’ve missed.

Christmas Link Dump

I have a Christmas tradition of my very own: Every Christmas Eve, at about 11pm, I get the idea that I should watch The League of Gentlemen’s Christmas Special. One hour later, completely sickened, afraid to turn off the lights, I realize I have ruined Christmas for myself yet again. I love these horrible bastards.

A few things:

  • In 2008 I made a Christmas link dump of many Christmas specials I enjoy. If you’re not running around doing last minutey things, you could check them out. A Car Talk carol still makes me cry with laughter, the 1951 Christmas Carol is still one of the best movies ever made, and I still think you should watch Hogfather if you have no “Christmas spirit”.
  • Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun – Comedic, yet sentimental, Christmas song. Minchin speaks truths and plays piano.
  • Holmes Decorates His Chemistry Set – Even Sherlock Holmes can enjoy Christmas. “Mrs. Hudson, don’t you dare take my aspidistra!” Uploader made an amusing Freudian typo in the opening.
  • The BBC’s Doctor Who site has many Christmas goodies up, including some short stories. None of which I’ve managed to check out, because I’m too busy with this.
  • “Merry Christmas Gabriel. I got you the truth.” – Is a line I hope to find a way to use at least once tomorrow. There’s also a seasonal PATV episode.
  • And finally, if you have any last minute shopping to do, check out the Humble Bundle. A pay-what-you-want bundle of indie games to benefit the EFF and Child’s Play. If you pay more than $7.73 you also get some additional games, including one of my favorites, Aquaria.

Don't Forget to Leave Beer for Loli Santa

Merry Christmas and other applicable winter holidays all! And don’t forget to leave beer for loli Santa.

Sailor Moon Sacrifice, Episode 1 Is Out

Early Christmas gift for Sailor Moon fans. I’m impressed by the amount of effort that went into making this entirely new episode. Hoping for more.

One flaw, some of the audio is low quality. The YouTube page has a transcript if you need it.

This Is a Visual Representation of the Backend of Toaster Labs

Mad Science!

Added a few things, which took more of my time then I would like to admit. Cleaned some things up and discovered more broken things. Winter cleaning looked something like this:

Cleaning Disaster

There is now a mobile version of this site. You can access it by pointing your browser to m.toasterlabs.net or by clicking the link in the header or footer. It’s not as colorful, but if you are like me and don’t enjoy all the pinching and spreading the normal layout requires to use on a phone, you may prefer it.

The tag cloud and the popular post list have returned. See appropriate links in the header. Also there are more colors now. I was inspired by my Christmas lights.

Now Search by Reading Level

Toaster Labs' Reading Level

The Google Advanced Search page now adds reading level as another criterion for narrowing down your search.

Maybe I need to return to writing run-on sentences and using adjectives other then “epic”.

So, how much time did you spend playing with this? I’m halfway to figuring out a drinking game.

Quick Heads Up: Dirk Gently

December 16th. I’ve heard good things, but I can’t form much of an opinion from this trailer (which I think makes Dirk look like 2010 Sherlock‘s “special” cousin).

If the sofa makes an appearance, I’ll be satisfied.
