Christmas Link Dump
I have a Christmas tradition of my very own: Every Christmas Eve, at about 11pm, I get the idea that I should watch The League of Gentlemen’s Christmas Special. One hour later, completely sickened, afraid to turn off the lights, I realize I have ruined Christmas for myself yet again. I love these horrible bastards.
A few things:
- In 2008 I made a Christmas link dump of many Christmas specials I enjoy. If you’re not running around doing last minutey things, you could check them out. A Car Talk carol still makes me cry with laughter, the 1951 Christmas Carol is still one of the best movies ever made, and I still think you should watch Hogfather if you have no “Christmas spirit”.
- Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun – Comedic, yet sentimental, Christmas song. Minchin speaks truths and plays piano.
- Holmes Decorates His Chemistry Set – Even Sherlock Holmes can enjoy Christmas. “Mrs. Hudson, don’t you dare take my aspidistra!” Uploader made an amusing Freudian typo in the opening.
- The BBC’s Doctor Who site has many Christmas goodies up, including some short stories. None of which I’ve managed to check out, because I’m too busy with this.
- “Merry Christmas Gabriel. I got you the truth.” – Is a line I hope to find a way to use at least once tomorrow. There’s also a seasonal PATV episode.
- And finally, if you have any last minute shopping to do, check out the Humble Bundle. A pay-what-you-want bundle of indie games to benefit the EFF and Child’s Play. If you pay more than $7.73 you also get some additional games, including one of my favorites, Aquaria.
Merry Christmas and other applicable winter holidays all! And don’t forget to leave beer for loli Santa.
Careful
Thefts of Christmas are on the rise.
(Thanks to all my JMKs! It’s good to know you will always be there to save my Christmases.)

What I Did In My Christmas Holidays – By Sally Sparrow
A spy, in the future, was going to have a copy of my Christmas homework? Talk about pressure!
The short story that later became the Doctor Who episode Blink is up on the BBC’s Doctor Who site. Disappointingly, no time warping angel statues in this version.
Be Happy Today
Christmas link dump, in keeping with the situation!

I hope Santa brought you something good.
Some miscellaneous Christmasy links for you:
- Is it Christmas?
- Scrooge (1951) on YouTube – Easily my favorite version as well as one of my favorite movies.
- Classic Christmas Videos Online – This list includes the Star Wars Holiday Special and Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I won’t tell you which movie frightened me more as a child.
- Deep and Dreamless Sleep- Doctor Who short story with a Christmas theme.
- Hogfather – TV adaption of comedic sage Terry Pratchett’s book. This video site sucks but it was the only one that seemed to have it. I would recommend bittorrenting it. You will thank me for seeing this.
- A Garfield Christmas on YouTube – I still watch this with my brother and sister on Christmas morning.
- xkcd 361 – Represents my situation nicely.
- A Christmas Carol : Many Old Time Radio Versions @ The Internet Archive
- A ‘Car Talk Carol’ – For all the public radio fans. I cried with laughter.
Do people ever get tired of A Christmas Carol? I sure don’t.
Merry Christmas!
