Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
It’s still raining so I have nothing witty to add today, but also check out Anamanaguchi‘s theme for the upcoming video game revealed at PAX East.
Cerebus Valentines
File this under “most hilarious use of misogyny”. Alludes to real quotations by Cerebus creator Dave Sim. Backstory and more Valentines here at ComicsAlliance.

Scott McCloud on (Obviously) Comics
Brief Scott McCloud introduction. Now, I’m not saying you immediately need to go buy Reinventing Comics and start jerking off to it, but his ideas are…well go read as many comics as you can and develop your own opinion.
Edit to say, sorry, the T.E.D. player doesn’t show up in the RSS feed. Take a click through, it’s worth it.
Found at the Library

The one thing I can’t understand about (one of) the local libraries I frequent is how they decide which books go on their “Graphic Novels” and “Graphic Novels for Children” shelves. This one was found in the children’s room.
I can’t wait to read this. It’s illustrated by famed Italian erotic comic artist Milo Manara (the fact that caused my double take in the children’s room) and although it’s titled “The Snowman” the cover looks remarkably like the Swamp Thing and John Constantine (though JC rarely carries a gun). I love finding odd books!
“That’s What Mr. A Said”
Felt the urge to look this scene up after watching Watchmen. Alan Moore recites a song from a band he was in. It’s titled “Mr. A”, after the comic book character that inspired Rorschach, and is simultaneously about Mr. A’s creator, the illusive Steve Ditko.
This clip is from one of the most entertaining documentaries I have seen, “In Search of Steve Ditko“. If you want to spend an hour learning some comic book history, whilst watching Jonathan Ross (who loves comics more than masturbation) be entertaining, Alan Moore being creepy, Neil Gaiman being cute, and Stan Lee being nostalgic, you should watch this documentary. Find it on bittorrent.
(No, this isn’t when Jonathan Ross snogs Neil Gaiman. You can find that -> here.)
Ben Templesmith Does Obama and the Other 43 Presidents

Ben Templesmith, best known for creating the creepy art of Fell and 30 Days of Night, has a book of presidential portraits coming out. All the portraits are done in his distinct style and it sounds like thematic creepy facts about each subject are also included.
See more preview pictures on Templesmith’s blog and Flickr photostream.
Related notes:
- Image comics has the first issue of Fell, written by Warren Ellis, drawn by Templesmith, as a free preview here.
- Have you seen Templesmith’s Doctor Who artwork?
- And while we’re talking about Ben Templesmith, I must recommend his Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse. It has strippers with magic tattoos.
“The Internet has a new hero…”

The web design blog Smashing Magazine now has it’s own superhero. Check out his first adventure.
